Bagamati Province Cooperative Union Limited (BPCL) was established based on legal provisions that can be registered and operated at the state level as an umbrella association of cooperative organizations operating with all types of cooperative social, economic and environmental activities as the center. It was formally registered on 13th Shravan 2077, according to Section 7 of the Cooperative Act, 2074 and Section 7 of the Bagamati Province Cooperative Act, 2076, the union has been duly registered with the Bagamati Province Government, Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives. Since then, the union has been conducting its activities following the cooperative norms, values and principles.

BPCL is a provincial-level cooperative organization established to promote, strengthen, and coordinate the cooperative movement within Bagamati Province, Nepal. The Union serves as a common platform for cooperative institutions and stakeholders, bringing them together to work toward shared economic, social, and institutional objectives. It aims to contribute to the development of a strong, sustainable, and responsible cooperative sector.

BPCL is committed to supporting its member cooperatives through coordination, representation, capacity development, and the exchange of knowledge and experience. By encouraging good governance, transparency, accountability, and effective management, the Union seeks to enhance the institutional capacity and overall performance of cooperatives operating throughout the province.

The Union also plays an important role in promoting cooperative values and principles, including democratic participation, mutual support, self-help, and community development. It works to strengthen cooperation among different types of cooperatives and to encourage inclusive economic opportunities for members and communities. Through collective efforts, BPCL aims to contribute to employment generation, entrepreneurship development, financial inclusion, and local economic growth.
